2 Network Connections problem ...

Hi I am a newbe here and this my first post. Hope you will help me.

I have 2 pcs in my house. One of them is connected to ISP through cable i mean have cable connection for one pc. Now I want to take connection in my second pc without informing my isp because they will they demand a high amount. I have done this several times before in other pcs but This time I failed. I just made a connecton between my 2 pcs ...didnt even share the connection or use any proxy server ... net connection in my first pc was off !! I was connected to my ISP gateway but couldnot go out of that gateway and couldnot resolve my dns. I mean my ISP configured so.

Is there any way to cheat them ?

Thanx in advnace n sorry for my bad english :S

If the first PC is connected to the ISP, then you should be able to use Internet Connection Sharing to do what you are trying to do.

Something is broken, but it is difficult to determine what is broken from the available information.

Have you tried to swap your PC's, so that PC #2 is the one connected to your Internet link?

I think I could not describe my problem clearly.

Actually whenever I activate 2nd network connection in 1st pc , the Internet connection from ISP became unavailable.....as soon as I deactivate the 2nd conenction the Internet connection from ISP become available again.

After activating 2nd connection in 1st pc , if i ping my isp gateway [say 192.168.0.1] i.e.

Code:
ping 192.168.0.1
.

I can get response from isp lan. But when I place a dns requst like
Code:
nslookup msn.com
....it does not give any reply but as soon as I deactivate my 2nd conenction , then it is able to resolve the dns.

So, I think they somehow arragned the lan server so that If it gets 2 activate connection in a pc[whether it's sharing Internet or not]....they restricted the data routing amon the lan ....none of the request can go out of the lan...that's why nslookup is not working.

Its solely my guess.
Is there any way to override this settings ?

This is very interesting, because I can't figure out how (technically) they could do this.

For troubleshooting purposes, let's take this to a lower level by taking DNS out of the loop.

Before you connect your 2nd PC, can you ping an IP address like this:
Code:
ping 160.33.26.10
After you connect your 2nd PC, can you ping it again:
Code:
ping 160.33.26.10
If this works, then you have a name resolution issue. If this doesn't work, then you have a basic networking issue.

My next troubleshooting steps would be one of these:

1. Replace the first PC with an actual router and then connect both PC's to the router.

2. Install a real gateway package on the first PC. For testing, I would use something like WinGate.
