Are you sure that it's Microsoft Windows which is not responding?

Often, a single application can spin out of control, causing all of Windows to appear unresponsive. This is a result of poor Operating System design, but your fix may be application-specific.

Next time this happens, hit <CONTROL-ALT-DELETE> to bring up Windows Task Manager, and check the following things:

1. In the Applications tab, look for any processes with a status other than "Running."

2. In the Processes tab, sort the processes by CPU and see which processes are using the most CPU time.

3. Again in the Processes tab, sort the processes by Mem Usage and see which processes are using the most RAM.

4. In the Performance tab, check the CPU Usage.

5. Again in the Performance tab, check the Page File Usage and the amount of Physical Memory Available.

Then, tell us what you see.

Some more points....

1. Has anything come up in the event logs? I can't believe how many windows users don't know about this, Right click my computer, click manage, you'll see a list on the left, goto event logs and have a look, usually you're looking for something with a red or yellow icon, although sometimes you'll get "mini-dump" information with an "i" bubble logo after rebooting from a crash. This should usually be your first step in solving any problem in windows.

2. How do you know it's a Wireless problem? Have you tried to connect wired?

3. If you have and so still think it's a wireless problem, have you tried with another wireless adaptor? If available of course, maybe borrow one from a friend

4. Have you got the latest drivers for it, sorry I know it's the standard tech support response but it does help, however i'll add one thing that tech support don't usually say, don't use generic windows drivers for anything, always use drivers from the manufacturer's website or supplied cds.

5. Regarding the points above, close anything that you can while testing it, this makes things easier to spot but could also remove the problem application

6. What operating system is it?

7. What are the system specs? (I can't be bothered to look it up on hundreds of commercial sites)

8. What are you downloading when it usually happens, ie protocol, http? ftp? torrent? and with what program (eg browser)....that would be a good place to look for the points about checking the task manager

There is no respond at all by pressing down ctrl+alt+delete.

Coz it's all stop responding.

There is no problem when i m using a cable to share file v my friends n surfing to internet.

But problem occurs when using wireless even to an ap or ad hoc mode.

I m running winxp home edition. 512 ram. 1.73ghz centrino.

This could be a real bear to troubleshoot and repair. Here's what I would try:

1. Uninstall the wireless NIC driver.
2. Download and install the newest version of the driver.
3. Complain to Acer or the reseller you purchased the notebook from.

I have tried this.

But it's won't work.

Any other solution ?

I have reported the problem, but they told me to format the laptop.

They said is just a spyware problem...

Wonder.......

That doesn't seem likely, but have you tried free spyware removal software like Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware?

It doesn't seem likely because that should affect both NIC's and I would point that out to the tech from Acer. Hell, I would demand an RMA (Return Materials Authorization) ticket.

But, before you can do that you hav to be polite and at least put an honest effort into looking for potential spyware.

WMIADAP is the AutoDiscovery/AutoPurge (ADAP) process which transfers performance libraries to the WMI repository.

It's in the prefetch folder because Windows is loading it earlier to improve system performance.

We're kind of stuck without knowing the exact error message regarding what happened to this file during the scan disk.
