LinkSys Router Setup

I am following your FAQ How do I setup a Linksys router? and something isn't working right.

You say "Once your web browser is open, go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password."

When I do this, Internet Explorer just gives me the error "The page cannot be displayed."

If you receive that error when trying to connect to your LinkSys router, there are only a few possibilities as to the cause.

• Your LinkSys is dead. Not too likely, but possible. Are the lights on?
• Your LinkSys has been configured at a different IP address. A hard reset of the LinkSys will fix that.
• Your Ethernet cable is bad. This is the most common cause of this error. Try another cable.
• Your cable is an Ethernet crossover cable instead of a straight through Ethernet cable. Try another cable.
