sharing between two computers

i have two xp machines. i just disabled 139 port on both machines.And from Run i access one mechine from other its not accessible.

error : network path not found.

but two machines can ping each other.

Port 139 is used by NetBIOS, which provides Windows File and Printer Sharing. It makes sense that disabling this port would break Windows File and Printer Sharing.

The `ping` command uses ICMP. It makes sense that this would continue to work.
