Wireless

Is it really safe to use wireless? I mean it can be more possible for your network to get hacked into if its on wireless.

Well I use wireless at home and I think I am safe. First of all I have to connect to internet via dsl with username and password so there is no extra security risk. Wireless is safe as any other internet/computer thing. As safe as the owner is if you know what I mean

Wireless is nowhere near as safe as a wired network, even with the most up to date encryption, could still be accessed if someone was really determined and had the know-how

Yes, along with your computer and any other devices connected on your network, it's unlikely anyone would bother hacking into the average users pc this way but possible all the same

wireless is pretty safe, remember, you need someone to first get your signal, then break into it, its not very common omongs those i know that use it. Ive always used it, and nothing bad has ever come from it.

WEP is trivial to crack. Not sure about WPA, however.

Quote from Wikipedia:

Quote:
Several serious weaknesses were identified by cryptanalysts — any WEP key can be cracked with readily-available software in two minutes or less...
WPA appears far more resilient against attacks, if secured with a proper passphrase. I recommend 60+ characters.
