A wireless bridge

I have a wireless bridge with one ethernet input port. Is it possible to have two devices work through that bridge by running them into a hub and then into the bridge? Robert

Howdy,

You said wireless bridge... do you really mean wireless bridge** or do you mean an access point?* If it's an access point then there shouldn't be a problem, if it's a bridge then probably not.

Lyte

* Access Point = "An access point is the connection that ties wireless communication devices into a network. Also known as a base station, the access point is usually connected to a wired network. Most Wi-Fi networks have a range of up to 150 feet but the access point range can be extended through the use of repeaters, which can amplify the network's radio signal."

**Bridge = "A wireless bridge is used for connecting two or more network segments separated physically, operating on the 802.11 standard. Wireless bridges usually work only in pairs or more. Wireless bridges can be used in two types of implementations they are point to point link (PtP Link) or point to multi point (PtMP Links)."

It sounds like to me if your running a bridge you should have a router at one end with the devices on it then the bridge coming out a uplink port.

correct me if I'm wrong as I'm currently reviewing the CompTIA 2005 Network+ exam so I might have it confused with some other networking technology.

Here's a page I found explianing these wireless bridges & access points so if you confused between the 2 products you can tell us if it was really a bridge on access point. http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials...le.php/1563991

Thanks for the replies and the link. We don't have an IT department so I typically work these issues myself. I'm trying to connect our mechanic shop at the other end of the lot to our office. Do two wireless LAN bridges sound like the way to go? The article states access points are more secure. Are wireless bridges more easily hacked? Robert
