This issue is network dependent. The problem is what is referred to in the Industry as "the Last Mile Solution" and it is the golden egg, the needle in the haystack, the Holy Grail.
Read my post on "the Key to Wireless Internet" for more information on that and what's being done to combat it. I don't want to post the same thing twice. Find it here:
the KEY to Wirelss Internet...
Basically, the problem is that virtually every WWAN system out there has very limited broadcast range (power) and is line of sight dependent. This limits how and where you can get connected when you are mobile. There is an unrealistic expectation of what's currently available and that drives the misconception even more... it also drives the need to complete that "last mile solution".
WE have that Solution. Again, read the "Secret" post for more information but in a nutshell, the key is building a network that is NOT line-of-sight dependent by making each user and network node a broadcast point of that network. Each new user ads another "hot spot" increasing coverage area and lines of communication, effortlessly increasing bandwidth and area at ZERO cost to the network owners.
We have been beta testing for almost 5 years now and are ready to release publically here pretty quick. Doing an IPO for the releast. This is the only legitimate last-mile solution out there and will take the WWAN arena by storm.
THEN, you WILL be able to go virtually anywhere without hot-spot dependence and enjoy personal mobile computing freedoms.
That is, after all, what GoPC is all about.
I've spent the last dozen years surrounded by some of the most briliant minds developing this product. If you have questions on how it all works or why certain aspects of Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWAN) work the way they do, don't hesitate to ask.
