Skype

Has anyone used Skype internet phone before?

I'm hearing rave reviews about it but I still haven't tried it out as yet.
I would love to hear people's experiences with Skype.

From my understanding you actually need to purchase a phone to use Skype, is this correct?

You can use Skype from your PC just by installing the VoIP software.

Skype supports Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Pocket PC.

Skype lets you make PC-to-PC phone calls for free, but to make PC-to-Phone calls, you must purchase SkypeOut minutes.

So it works with a conventional microphone?

Sounds great, I have never heard of it but how awesome not having to pay to talk to friends overseas! :P

I have used it once at my friends place and its really good. The clarity is good and almost as good as telephone. I have also tried Google talk which is again superb. Nice they come with great softwares.

Skype is a great program. It works with your pc microphone and the output is crystal clear. It is a free download and as long as the other party also has skype you can talk over the internet for free.
Skype is also great if you do any type of business and need to discuss things with co-workers, etc. It is definitely worth looking into. www.skype.com
