C Band Frequency Plan

The c band is distinguished into 2 type of polarization (horizontal and vertical).
How about circular polarization?
What if a signal is transmitted in circular polarization? How does the transponder recoqnize it?

Does anybody know frequency plan of extended c band?

Thank you

You could use circular polarization with C Band -- as long as it was used on both the satellite and the earth station.

I don't believe that the transponder would recognize it. I believe that you would have to configure it manually.

The frequencies for Extended C-Band are:

TX: 5.850 - 6.425 GHz
RX: 3.625 - 4.200 GHz

extended C

You said that the frequencies for Extended C-Band are:

TX: 5.850 - 6.425 GHz
RX: 3.625 - 4.200 GHz

But satellite mabuhay agila 2, use

TX:6587-6723 MHz
Rx:3562-3698 MHz

I'm saying that the frequency band used in ext. c band of agila 2 isn't in the range of 'your' extended c band.

ABOUT POLARIZATION
what do you mean by configure it manually?

Thank you

That is quite possible. "Standards" are only "standard" as much as everyone follows them, and there is little or nothing to encourage global conformance to satellite "standards."

I mean that the transmitter and the receiver must both be using the same polarization. If one is using vertical, the other much also be using vertical. You can configure a feedhorn for horizontal or vertical polarization just by twisting it 90 degrees.

For circular polarization, you will need to use a feedhorn designed for circular polarization or you will lose 50% of your signal strength.
