30 FPS vs 60 FPS

This is an old topic that hasn't been directly addressed recently but with many people talking about what they should run Doom 3 at I thought it might be a good idea to post it and sticky it for a few weeks.

This is a great article to really explain the differences between the frame rates.

Thanks for the tips.
I believe Doom 3 is the current benchmark for new video cards?
Nothing but the top, most expensive cards will run this game at the frame rate is supposed to be ran at.

Isnt 30FPS really slow?
Would the game still be playable at that frame rate?

Im unsure what the standard game frame rate is, but 30 sounds quite low.

Yup 30 fps is quite low.... the videos which we download have 30 frames per second, so if you think from that angle 30 seems less.

For an enjoyable experince you should recieve a steady framerate of 70-80FPS allowing a drop of 20FPS or so if a alot of people, shooting, etc are in at the moment.

If you get a frame-rate below 60FPS it isn't good.

32FPS is what your eye could only see, but in terms of gaming it makes it less smooth and having 1/2 the FPS ='s having 2x the death.

60 FPS is the standard for a lot of PC games. I've heard the human eye can't detect the difference between higher FPS rates.

I am usually satisfied with any framerate above 60 FPS, I really can't tell the difference between higher framerates.

I don't really care too much about the exact framerate, just so that it looks decent.
