AMD buys ATI

AMD is buying ATI. AMD is the #2 CPU manufacturer and ATI is one of the top graphics chip and video card manufacturers.

AMD is paying $4.2 Billion in cash and $1.2 Billion in stock for ATI.

What do you think? Did AMD do this to get into the video card market or did AMD do this because ATI manufactures motherboard chipsets? Hmmm...

I love AMD, and hate ATI lol. So having AMD purchase ATI is, I guess, a good thing. nVidia ALL THE WAY! :P

I have always been a fan of ATI but never was adverturous to try out an AMD CPU. Perhaps for my next comp i will get both.

It will be interesting to see where they head now, obviously we might see the end of pre-built Intel/ATI combo PC's and laptops.. could this be a good or bad thing?
I personally dont care as I build my own machines, but I'd like to see where this goes.
