Rep Power: 3 | yes it can be saved the "blue screen of death" occurs when there is a problem with your computer, such as, when your computer cant use the memory any more. this is just one cause. there are many more, but in almost every case all you have to do is restart your computer. the blue screen is not a common now as it used to be back when we were useing programs like windows, 3.1, and windows 95. take the memory for example, it is constantly have new information being put through it. somtimes, it does not release that information back to the computer and just holds on to it. well after doing this several times the computer has no memory left for it to use and the computer crashes to the "blue screen of death". well since since ram is volitile, (meaning it has to have power to "remember") when you restart your computer every things should work as normal. this is just one thing that can cause the blue screen. there are many others, but they tipically have the same outcome. you just restart and then you are good to go. now simetimes this can be caused by a piece of hardware failing like the memory. if you have a surge and that frys somthing, but this is seldom the case. another cause for this is how stable your processor is running. i like to overclock my computers and if i move the clock speeds of my processors a little to high or dont give the processor enough power then that can cause instibility and make the blue screen. but like i said most all of the time just restart and you are good as new. you just lose any thing that you have not saved. i would like to make one comment that when i mentioned memory earlier in this, that i was refering to RAM. |

Rep Power: 3 | Good explanation.. using Windows ME, I'd often get "System is busy waiting for" screens.. One day I'd hope to either have a computer or OS that can make it thru an entire day without a problem. Quote: |

Rep Power: 0 | It depends what BSoD you've gotten on that machine. As aforementioned, a "Blue Screen of Death" can be many different things, from your harddrive starting to die, to something as simple as windows just plain being windows. Most of the time, a simple restart can be the best solution, however it starts happening more and more, or if it happens after a certain amount of time, etc, it can be a major problem. If you post what the BSoD said or take a picture of it and show us, perhaps we can help you. |

Rep Power: 3 | Basically the BSoD sucks. Draws many away from M$ Windows and onto other OS's like MAC, FreeBSD, and Linux. It depends on what caused the problems on whether or not it can be saved. |
