Cleaning inside hardware

I'm looking into ways to clean the inside of my DVD player. I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Should I get one of those cleaning CDs? Do those even work? Please help!

I don't know of another method available to non-professionals.

If I were a pro, I could use those 8" cotton swabs and some cleaning solution -- but I'm not a pro, so I don't know what parts to clean and I would most likely just break something. ops:

Great! what brand of CD did you use? Did it get everthing working correctly? Can you tell me exactly how they work? How does it get the machine clean anyways?

The cleaning CD is the best way to get your drive cleaned out. You just insert the cleaning CD, and it does its job. You'll be amazed at the difference. It's the solution in the cleaning CD that cleans the hardware inside the CD or DVD ROM.

Do you think it would work on an Xbox? The drives in them are kinda cheap so mine's starting to lose it ability to read my discs, but a lot of people say it just has a dust problem.

If there is a lot of dust inside the DVD player, consider using a can of compressed air and blow air into the player to clean out the dust.

Cleaning CD's work well, if that does not solve your problem, then try using a can of compressed air to clean out the interior of the drive.
