Computer make weird noices

Recently my PC has been making a loud noice! I'm assuming it's the fan inside. If I shut down for a little bit, it will stop, but if I bump it sometimes it will start up again. Will this cause problems with my PC, is it hard to replace? Can I do it? I have a Dell Pent lll

Thanks

Yeah, this sounds like a fan issue. My old computer did the same thing with the two fans on the mother board! I opened it up and found one of the fans was starting to seize/grind and that's what was making the noise. I replaced the bad one but should have replaced both. Eventually, the other started to have the same problem and eventually the board gave up and died.

Now, which fan exactly it is you'll only know by opening it up and watching it run... or take it to a pro. Fans are pretty in expensive and even I was able to replace my own! I would definately address this issue and soon! The fans are intended to keep parts cool and when they're not working things start to "fry."

Let us know what you find out!

Actually, it kinda depends on the type of motherboard you have. My board happened to have two but yours may have just one. Also, you should have one at the rear of the computer that draws air in to cool it.

I'll see if I post some photos as examples.

This is the type of video card I need to run Call of Duty 2...

GEForce 6800

I didn't know that even video cards could have fans! Interesting!

Sheesh, here's one with TWO fans!
