Corsair RAM - the best

Are Corsair considered the best manufacturers of RAM?
I have a choice to either purchase 1GB of DDR Corsair RAM or the same amount of Kingston RAM.
The Corsair is more expensive, but is it worth the extra $$?

As RAM is built to industry standards for compatability, I treat it like a commodity where the only variable is price.

You think so?

I've read alot of reviews etc in magazines where some RAM out performs others so I have to disagree there

Ever tried cheap rubbish RAM?

There is a HUGE difference from the good expensive stuff.

There is much more variable in RAM than price!! Make sure you look at CAS Latency and the speed. Also, make sure you buy RAM with a heatsink over it because it will keep cooler. Try to stay away from "value" ram.

We use mostly the Corsair "Value Select" RAM in store here, and I can't recall ever having to replace it. Top quality stuff!

Yes, as I thought its one of the best and highly recommended.
I also often use Kingston RAM, never had a problem with that either.

Budget RAM sticks are a big no-no

Computer magazines often say Corsair is the best RAM - I dont know if they say that because they are paid to say it, or if it really is the best.

I know its the most expensive so that has to equate for something, right?

Agreed, do not buy the very cheap kind of RAM, you do get what you pay for.

If my computer says that it has 1024MB of DD2 is that the equivalent of having that same amount of Ram? Thank you...

Yes. It is most likely referring to DDR2 SDRAM.

Any branded RAM is fine. Different brands have different specs as well, like there's Kingston Value RAM which is cheaper
