Dell 2405FPW 24" Monitor

I have heard nothing but raves about the Dell 24" Monitor

I really want to get one, but I am still hesitating on making a move. Does anyone here have any experience with this monitor? Pros? Cons? How about less expensive alternatives?

One con will definitely be that you have to buy a new desk to put that monster on. But here's a real review for you:

And you'll have trouble reading things on it since its so huge!
Good for gaming and graphic design, bad for reading text though!

How much does it retail for?

Except for the fact that it's insanely HUGE, I don't see a problem. reading won't be a factor, the computer will compensate for the size of the screen.

Dont you think it would hurt the eyes to read on a big monitor like that?
Maybe I just have bad eyes.. but I know my eyes would be moving alot to cover the text on the screen - I would have headaches :?

My desktop monitor is 24" and it's great.

There are no problems at all with it being too large.

I can always shrink a specific window if I want to.

Sometimes I use it just so that I can have multiple documents on the screen and refer to them all at once.

Bigger is better!

Monitor

Hubby has like a 20-inch monitor, and it's just too big for me. I have poor eyesight, and it's just too big. It's kind of like when kids sit too close to the TV. It's not good for their eyes. Same here. Some may not have a problem, but I think, down the road, it might contribute to problems with eyesight or at least the need for glasses if you don't already wear them. I won't go any bigger than a 17". Just my opinion.
