email problem on newly installed pc

hi, help appreciated with the following problem

recently purchased a new pc, setup a basic dial up connection and created / replicated the three email accounts i had on my old pc.

here is the problem, when i shut down and re-boot the pc the parameters of all the pop3 accounts change to 127.0.0.1 i am aware what this number is and it's significance but do not understand why i get this every time i shut down adn re-boot.

pop3 parameters can be changed and email retrieved but it is time consuming and shouldn't be happening......... if anybody knows what is causing this and the best solution, please enlighten me.

Do you have McAffee or another aftermarket firewall/antivirus installed?

It's a little odd that this is happening on a new pc, but it sounds like the computer was shipped with an anti-spam program pre-installed and your mail is intended to be routed thru a proxy for filtering.

Look on your desktop and in your Start Menu for anti-spam software.

You might also do a file search for "autoproxysetup.exe". If you find such a file, run it and see if it has a "disable" button.

Since this is happening on reboot, it's most likely something that is included in your Start Up. You can remove it by either locating the offending software in the Add/Remove Software list from your Control Panel or by clicking Start > Run, typing: msconfig

Click "OK" and then click on the "Startup" tab for a list of items that start when your computer starts.

You can also check your Registry for startup items. If you'd like help with doing that, let me know.
