Question Front speakers/mic

Ok im not positive if this is in the right forum but eh ill try. Ok heres the deal.. i have my case with the front speaker jack and front mic jack. I would like to have these hooked up just because im picky about everything being right. The pins connectors read as follows: Mic Bias-Mic in- Gnd- R in- L in- L out- Gnd- R out. and my motherboard pins read as follows: Mic- Gnd- Mic_bias- Power- Front Audio (R)- Rear Audio(R)/Return R- NC- No Pin-Front Audio (L)- Rear Audio(L)/ Return L. Now i know that some do match up like the ground, mic, mic bias, but that is as far as i got. Im just wondering if anyone can break the rest down for me. I just dont want anything to get fried because of a stupid mistake i made. Thanks dennis

Looking these over, most of the pins seem clear.

MIC <--> MIC IN

Front panel microphone input signal (biased when supporting stereo
microphone)

GND <--> GND

Ground used by analog audio circuits

MIC BIAS <--> MIC BIAS

Microphone power / additional MIC input for stereo microphone support

Power

Filtered +5 V used by analog audio circuits

Front Audio (R) <--> R Out

Right channel audio signal to front panel (headphone drive capable)

Rear Audio(R)/Return R <--> R In

Right channel audio signal return from front panel (when headphones unplugged)

NC

No Connection

No Pin

Key (used to prevent the a unified connector from being put on backwards)

Front Audio (L) <--> L out

Left channel audio signal to front panel (headphone drive capable)

Rear Audio(L)/ Return L <--> R In

Left channel audio signal return from front panel (when headphones unplugged)

But wait... we have an extra GND connector. And we aren't using the 5v power output from the motherboard. Hmmm...

Are your speakers powered externally, making the 5v unnecessary? I would plug the extra GND connection onto the NC pin.

I would leave the 5v pin disconnected, unless I was certain that leaving it disconnected was causing a problem.
