HDMI vs.
DVI is an infinitely arguable question.
DVI and HDMI are
very similar:
HDMI and DVI:
- are both digital standards
- both utilize TMDS (Transmission Minimized Differential Signaling)
- both use balanced sgnals over twisted-pair cable
On the other hand:
- DVI and HDMI use different physical connectors
- DVI carries only video, while HDMI also carries audio
It seems to me that removing the need for a seperate audio cable reduces cable clutter and gives HDMI the edge -- barely.
However, I am not so sure that I am completely ready to give up my nice fat analog component cables for either of these new digital standards.
