Heat sinks copper or aluminum?

Which is better? I prefer copper but I'm not sure.

Hey PC EYE,

Welcome to PC101!

Well, I did a little reading... some of which you've probably done yourself... and think you've made the right decision going with copper. Here are a couple sites which suggest copper is best for dissipating heat.

http://www.thermshield.com/Thermshie...s_Aluminum.pdf

Here's a very interesting article about cooling. I don't know about anyone else but I really like learning how things work!

http://www.overclockers.com/articles223/index.asp

Page two of the article talks about copper vs. aluminum.

I guess the consensus is that copper is better BUT it is quite a bit more expensive than aluminum.

Let us know which way you go and how it works out!

Lyte

heat sync.

100% copper is the best at thermal condutivity.

if you would like to make you heat sync work better, no matter what the material. then look in to lapping the bottome of it. also what kind of thermal past are you using all playes a part in cooling i like quick silver. lapping can help reduce your temps by 1-3 degree. does not sould like much but if you plan on pushing your systme is can make a big differance. but copper is the best hands down.
