Rep Power: 3 | LCD Monitors Does anyone have an LCD monitor?
I still have the old CRT, but its a 21inch flat screen and I am quite happy with it.
Should I even bother upgrading to an LCD, is the quality that much better?
I hear Dell make some excellent LCD screens but Im guessing they are only available if you buy a whole PC from Dell |

Rep Power: 5 | I believe that picture quality is better on CRT's than LCD's.
My seldom-used desktop has a 24" Sony Trinitron on it. It's very nice, but you have to be really motivated if you want to move it.
It seems that people like LCD screens because they are light and because they are stylish -- but wow are they expensive! |

Rep Power: 3 | I heard there is a bad pixels problem with LCD monitors so I did not opt to go for it, instead I bought a CRT 21" monitor and its nice.
Also LCD display, it seems are not suitable for group viewing. At my place my friends usually watch movies on the PC, so they said having a LCD display would not be good for this? Is that really so? |

Rep Power: 3 | Don't know about that, but I have heard of Dead Pixels with LCD monitors and this has turned me off buying.
I mean you pay so much for a monitor that works worse than a CRT? |

Rep Power: 3 | I love my LCD, it is alot thinner and lighter so it is easier to move. Also, it doesnt hurt my eyes as much as my old CRT did. Also, LCDs are getting so cheap now, under $200 for a 17".

Is that really so? | Almost all LCD manufacturers have "Dead Pixel Warranty" so basically after your screen gets a certain amount of dead pixels it gets replaced. That said, we sell LG LCD's and have not had a single dead pixel to date. The 17" AOC LCD we use as our sales PC here has 1 dead pixel, but it is now about 3 years old...

Rep Power: 3 | I have a Dell LCD screen, it's more convenient than the old types because it's a flat screen which takes up less room on my desk I think the resolution is better as well. |

Rep Power: 3 | Don't get a crappy LCD, if you're going to get one go for the higher end stuff. Yeah, Dell has some cheaper ones, no idea on the quality. But you don't have to get a whole system, they sell things seperately. |

Rep Power: 3 | LCD Monitor I have been looking for a flat-screen monitor for my son for Christmas. We just built the computer from barebones up, and all we need is the monitor. He wants a flat screen, so all this talk about whether to buy LCD was really helpful right now. I'm on my way to searching for CRT. Thanks, guys! |

So get the wife an LCD, she will watch you in jealousy as you are on your 21" crystal clear CRT monitor that cost 1/4 the price hers did |

| Yeah a lot of people tend to mistake flat-screen for an LCD display in both the monitor and TV markets (not sure if this is your case but just pointing it out). They don't realize that flat-screen refers to a flat CRT, because normally CRT's have a curved surface. The advantage is that you get a lot less glare. |

Rep Power: 3 | True, flat screen has nothing to do with LCD.
LCD's are "flat panel"
CRT's can be "flat screen"
I love flat screen CRT's, I think the images are crystal clear and personally I like them alot better than an LCD.
