Talking The Mother..what?

The motherboard rules in a PC like a mother in the home, right? :p

I am NOT a techie but do want to learn basic PC tech stuff.

Next thing I need to learn is selecting a laptop & wireless tech. I tend to learn PC info, use it right then for purchase and then forget ablout all until the next time I buy something.

If these forums are for the TECH pro then I am at the wrong place. Can I hang around anyway?

Thanks,
Pam

Absolutely!

I hope this forum will be a comfy place for all... pro and newbie (not a dirty word! ) alike!

There will be a great deal of "how to" because there's a lot to learn when it comes to the PC. But, there has to be a "New and improved" section too! Each day there are advancement in current technology as well and brand spankin' new gadgets!

That's what's great about forums: every topic is a learning experience for everyone...as long as we're all careful to check into previous posts to avoid asking the same question 50 times

Like the site so far and can't wait till it starts to take off! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help...

Alright, I'll use the search so I will avaoid asking the same question for the 51st time!!!

I do want a basic laptop to supplement the desktop I have. I hate to read more than 2 paragraphs at the desk but am comfortable reading page after page lounging w/ a laptop on my..................lap. And, since I have alot of researching to do on the net I should really get one. Also check email too.

Point is, I heard on news that on friday morning, day after Thanksgiving, busiest shopping day of year-Wally World (Wal-Mart) will be selling a $800 laptop for $399. Think it is a Toshiba too.

That would probably be good enough for now. But, I'll have to be there when they open doors, about 5 or 6 am...butt crack of dawn and in the cold.

I'll think of it as earning a few hundred bucks for several hours work.

You're gonna have to get up really early in the morning girl... I'd suggest more like 2 am if you wanna get one! Years ago, people camped out for HOURS just to get a TV and VCR cheap. I'd hate to see how the store will be for a laptop!

Let us know how you fair... if you survive! :p

Is it brand new or second hand?

They were brand new laptops from HP but I think they were pretty much "stripped down" versions... like the very VERY basic components and lower end ones at that. That's what I heard anyway.
