Shouldn't matter how you mount it.

I found a Seagate installation guide that says to either "mount your hard drive horizontally or vertically, depending on your case orientation"

should be ok
that should be ok. the only thing i have heard is not to mount them upside down. i havent ever tried that my self, and dont know what it could hurt, but i dont see why you would do that and way. there are some cases that are designed to mount dhem vertically, or on thier side.

on my case the hd mounts vertically. No problems so far
