Partitioning your hard drive means dividing it up into two or more drives. The actual hardrive disk is called the
physical drive and each partition is called a
logical drive.
Dividing your hard drive into partitions improves performance and simplifies backups by the seperating operating system from things like documents, worksheets, images, etc. This is just one example of how you might divide your drive. It's really up to you.
There's software on the market to help you partiion your drive.
Partition Commander ($50),
Paragon Partition Manager ($50) are two of several you can choose from.
