The position of your tower

I used to place my computer tower on the floor. In fact, it was there for several years, but I soon learned that it should definitely NOT rest on a carpet, and there tends to be much more dust and particles that can enter the tower on the floor. Try to place your tower on top of a desk or something similar, enclosed if you can; however, not completely to allow for proper venting. Any other suggestions about proper placement of your tower?

Mine is on the floor.
My tower has 'feet' though so its not really touching the ground.
I dont think its a problem, dust is everywhere, there is little you can do besides cleaning out the fans often.

Computer on floor

Yes, if you're going to have it on the floor, make certain to clean it at least once weekly. You could just open the side and use canned air to spray all the dust off. This will prevent any corrosion.

Oh, uh-oh. Mine use to be placed ontop of my desk, but it was taking up to much room so I put it on the floor next to my desk. Guess that was a bad idea, huh?

Just clean it every six months or so.

PC's have to be refreshed every 18-24 months, so they normally get old before they break.

I agree with not putting it on the floor and cleaning it.

However, has anyone done tests to see if the computer is slower or get hot...etc. Charts of some sort. Also would it matter what is inside the case as in hardware? P3 vs a P4..etc.

Thanks
