Have you dusted (canned air) the interior recently?? If yes, you may have losened something. If no, you might wanna clean it out.

How old is the CD/DVD driver?

I clean it every couple months. It sits on my bookcase not the floor so it doesn't get very dirty inside. It's a 3 year old CDR. Has it lived it's life????????

Howdy!

There are two ways of opening the cd/dvd/whatever door. One is with the little button at the front of the drive and the other is through my computer -> dvd/cd/whatever icon. Have you tried the latter??

Go to my computer, look down at the "Devices with Removable Storage" area and right click on the icon of the drive that's giving you trouble. One of the options is "Eject," hit that and see what happens. If it works properly from here then I'd say the button on the drive is either dead or dirty! :p Try some canned air and let us know what happens.

Going through my computer works fine. Guess this means the button is dead or dirty. :p I'll see if cleaning it helps. Can I make a short cut through my computer?
