help

I have a dell pc with 1 pc2700 256mb memory card. I added a 32Mx64 8 dram ddr2.400.cl3 memory card and my computor started making a whole lot of beeps. I unplugged the pc removed the DDR and now my display won't come on. My pc when turned on still comes on does its normal beeps the keyboard and mouse come on but not my display. I plugged the display and the original 256mb into my other dell and they worked fine. So could someone please help.
Thank You very much. Peggy Spivey

Hey Peggy,

I moved and merged your posts over to the hardware section so they wouldn't be missed.

This seems odd... I've never heard of memory frying a monitor... even if you bought the RAM that wasn't compatible with your system. Hmm... did you go back and check all your connections after having opened the case? Anytime I've had trouble after adding a piece of hardware it's because I bumped/lossened something.

EDIT: See my post below...

Hey Peggy,

I just got your email...

"I need to know if I fried a part of my Dell pc. It had 1 pc2700 256 mb memory card and I put in a 32Mx64 8 dram DDR2.400.CL3 so I could have 2 memory cards. My pc started acting weird so I unplugged it but now my displayed want come on. I took the original pc2700 that was in it in the first place and tried it in my other dell and it worked just find. So did I ruin a part of my board or can I do something. The Dell still beeps and comes on and so does the keyboard & mouse, just not the monitor. If someone could please, please help me I would be so grateful."

Hmm... so you added this memory to the video card or the motherboard?? Heck, did the DELL come with a Video card... mine didn't.

I'm unclear... did you take out the new card and put back in the old one.... making the system as it was before the change... and STILL it didn't work??

I'd also like to know what model/brand of Dell you have.... so we can see all the hardware that came with.

First remove the ram and reinstall the old ram and see if your computer works. I had a similar problem. You should not have fried anything just try to go back where you started.
