Rep Power: 7 | Hey DalipJ,
Welcome!
512 MB of ram is not a LOT of memory but it really depends on the game you want to play. Here are the RAM requiremnts for some popular PC games.. Ghost Recon
RAM: 1024 MB Halo
RAM: 512MB Call of Duty 2
RAM: 256 MB (512 MB RAM recommended)
So, you can get away with just 512 of RAM but your best bet is to check the game you want to play first and see what it requires.

Rep Power: 3 | To put it bluntly, if you want crisp graphics, fast load times, and no 'lagging' durring single player game play, never settle for less than 1 GB.

But I just want for future games. Should I get more than one gig so I don't have to keep updating it and all that?
Btw, I play BF2/COD/CS |

Rep Power: 3 | Here's the thing with memory. If you can't tell that you need more, then you probably don't. But for those not comp savvy, get atleast a gig(like the 4th person to say this, but's its the minimum nowadays.

Rep Power: 4 | memory well it depends on the memory speed, size, and latency. it also depends on if you have ddr or sd ram, and if you have ddr, are you running in dual. ram will do things like support more open aplications at once, and help with the games loading times. |

Rep Power: 0 | If you can afford it, why not make it 2gb? Unless you don't, 1GB is still enough to "run" the latest games (smoothness doesnt count) for around 2 years. But make sure your board have enough slots.. don't dump the old 512 chip if possible.

Rep Power: 7 | Yeah, I'm a firm believer of not revisting a task over and over again so... if you can, I'd go for the 2G too! It would be a pain to get 1G now and then in 6 months find I need another one.

and you would also need to make sure your motherboard is compatible with dual channel ddr aswell.

WOuld one GB be good enough for all the latest games? | You are getting a new computer. So you wont be upgrading the motherboard anytime soon, correct? The new computer comes with 512 installed or 512 is what you have in your present system?
Is the new puter custom build or OEM.
What I'm getting at is dont upgrade your old puter with Ram that wont run with your new puter. And before you spend the money, make sure your motherboard/s will support over 1 gig. Some OEM's have limititations. Be sure to check.
If you share your sys stats we could better answer.
Peace,

Rep Power: 0 | Ram Hi. If you will run a lot of games with good graphics you may need RAM from 1GB to 2GB.

Rep Power: 3 | Hi, I would reccomend at least 1GB.
I upgraded from 256MB to 1GB and the games I play run very well, but there's still room for improvement. I'd love to be able to turn ALL of the settings up to max no problem. |
