My belkin router will only connect wirelessly but not through ethernet ANYMORE

I have 2 laptops , they connect wirelessly to the belkin with no problems.
I have a desktop , it connects through a ethernet ,
but since yesterday it's not connecting anymore.

I have turned the router off and then back on and the light ( that shows what ports are connected to computers )turns on,
but only for about 10 seconds.

I am stumped as to why this happens, can anyone give me help?

It really sounds like your Ethernet cable is broken.

Can you try a different cable?

Of course, it could also be a failed Ethernet port -- either on your PC on on the Belkin router.

When you look at all of your Network Connections in Windows, what does that Ethernet port say as it's status? Does it say "Connected, Firewalled", or "Disabled", or "Network cable unplugged, Firewalled"?

I would try to Disable and Re-Enable the port by using the Right-Click menu in Network Connections.

i had this problem a while back.....

you know your little ends for the catV( ethernet) cable? make sure it has one the little tab deals on it that isnt broken. if it is, you may need a new cable because the connecter is not held in place by anything other than friction, and that just aint enough. also look into Mr. Spencers answers.
