Question router logs

hai....i want to know about log files in routers....usually where the log files will be stored in the router.....if there is any web help means please provide me....thanks in advanz.......

That is totally configurable. Personally, I like to have the routers use syslog to send their logs off to a secured Unix box.

Here's how to do that in Cisco IOS:

Code:
Router# config t
Router(config)# logging 192.168.1.76
Then, on the Unix box, I use a log analysis tool such as the HP OpenView Operations Smart Plug-in for Data Network Devices.

Question router logs

hai... what is the procedure to store the logs from the router to an windows pc.usually where the logs will be stored in windows pc.......thanks in advanz.....

It's the same with a Windows host. The Windows server must have a program that accepts syslog messages.

The file locations of the logs on the Windows box depend on which syslog daemon is in use and on whether the administrator has configured a non-default location for the files.

A few common syslog daemons for Windows are:

Kiwi Syslog Daemon
WinSyslog
syslog-win32
NTsyslog
LogLady

And more than a dozen others...
