Clearing your BIOS password should leave you with no password.
Have you tried just pressing <ENTER> when you are asked to enter the password?
The Acer eSettings Management Guide shows you how to do this within Microsoft Windows, without rebooting.
Which method did you use to clear your BIOS password? |

Rep Power: 0 | ACER ASPIRE 1612lmi Hi!
I've the same problem.
I've tried to reset the bios password with some KILL-CMOS programs
But unfortunately the password is into the eprom and now I've only the default values of the bios with NO-USB-BOOT and NO-CDROM-BOOT
Help me! I need to format my laptop to re-install the OS (Win-XP).
Thanks! |

Rep Power: 5 | From what you all seem to be describing, there is a bug with these Acer's which causes them not to operate as documented.
One of you needs to contact Acer Service to get them to publish a fix for this issue.
Unfortunately, I cannot do this -- I am not an Acer owner.
You can also email Acer support.
Please post the answer back here. |

In order to have the BIOS or hard disk password removed (This include any biometric security), the notebook will need to come in to our repair depot for password removal. Rep Power: 5 | What a bunch of wankers.
Hey, where in your Acer notebook was your CMOS battery?
What did it look like, how did you identify it, etc...
And thank you for posting your results back to this thread! |

You have scared me now. I have Acer Aspire 3692 and I am thinking about setting passwords in BIOS. But I don`t want to have troubles with that...
Could you write the BIOS versions of your notebooks? Do you know anything more about this possible bug? Do I also have this buggy BIOS?
Please, let me know if you know something about it... |

Rep Power: 5 | I believe that I would not use a BIOS password, and would instead make certain that my laptop was physically secured at all times.
And if I did decide to use a BIOS password, I would write it down, place it in a sealed envelope, and store it in my safety deposit box. |

Rep Power: 0 | Yes, but what if I would want to clear this password some day, the BIOS is buggy, and it won`t clear the password correctly?
I would have choice: clear the BIOS settings by myself and resign from warranty (sic!), or send notebook to service and pay for it...
So before I set this password, I would like to know if my BIOS really is buggy... |

Rep Power: 5 | As Acer isn't being completely honest, there is really no way to tell if this bug will affect you -- until it does.
As a result, I would not take the risk of using a BIOS password on an Acer. |
