BIOS Pasword on Thinkpad A31

Hi,
how can i reset the supervisor BIOS Password on a ThinkpadA A31 ?
I the past i could access the boot menu without any Password but now i get date/time error on boot and the result is, that i need a password to enter setup (to set date/time correctly). In the FAQ you mean i should enter supervisor password to reset the supervisor password ? How is this working ? The supervisor password is lost !

Ah yes, you need the Supervisor Password to reset the Supervisor Password.

According to the ThinkPad Computer Hardware Maintenance Manual for the A30, A30p, A31, and A31p:

Attention: If the SVP has been forgotten and cannot be made available to the servicer, there is no service procedure to reset the password. The system board must be replaced for a scheduled fee.

That's not happiness, but it is common on laptops these days due to theft.

You can buy an IBM ThinkPad A31 motherboard on eBay for $90, and then you have an hour or so of installing it.
