Rep Power: 1 | Vista? Hello. Last time I checked Vista was still full of bugs and needed loads of patchs off the Internet for lots of things.
What condition is it in now?
Thanks,
BlueEew.

Rep Power: 7 | Hmm... as long as Windows XP has been out it still has issues. So, I'm certain Vista has plenty of issues! There is already a Service Pack for it too.

I have XP Entertainment addition. I would not want to upgrade to something that is going to be worse then what I have. My computer is fairly new and cost me a lot. Like nearlly $2000 in USD.

Rep Power: 7 | Yeah, I don't see the need to swap out my current PC/XP for Vista however; I do need to have it so I can write tutorials for it!

Rep Power: 3 | I've had vista for about a year now. It's vista business on my laptop. Vista SP1 had alot of issues on upgrading, some friends of mine @ college had to get a fresh install from the factory (warranty covered it but still a hassle to ship it to them). I don't see that many bugs in it. It takes forever to start up and I've turned off alot of the looks to it. What tutorials you want for it?

You need mega power to run it, or to run it properly, let say. My XP computer with the same processor and ram will go twice as fast as Vista, if not faster.
I know a lady friend that bought a laptop with Vista. It was quite a bargin with only 512 mb of ram. It was SO slow!!
So, other that the resources is sucks up, it looks pretty and runs quite well from what I've seen. Personally, I will stay with XP until something better comes along.

Rep Power: 3 | I have a 2 ghz core 2 duo with 2.5 gb of ram. Is way above the minimum specs...it's just slow, always has been. It doesn't take long to boot it up, but logging in. Even with a fresh install logging in takes forever.

My main beef, besides speed, was my Skype phone and TV tuner card no longer worked. No drivers were available for my hardware and probably still aren't.

I thought your last statement was a bit funny, since you leak info every time you visit a website. No real big information...just your IP addy and maybe the odd third party cookie.
I am curious though. You mean you have all Vista default settings and you don't have any issues?

A lot of applications need patchs that are developed by many people. It is just not worth all the trouble. Until XP stops getting updated I am sticking with it.

Same here. I am curious about the next version, Windows 7, due in 2010. That doesn't mean I will like it though. lol

It was so much more stable than anything they had produced previously. XP just smartened it up a bit; making it look graphically nicer and more secure. I know, I know, M$ and security is sort of an oxymoron.
I may even give Linux a try again. The last time I installed it was Mandrake nine or ten. It was cool, but still not extremely user friendly. I am hoping the next version I try will be better. I do still use my knoppix boot disk from time to time, but that's not quite the same.

Rep Power: 4 | Hey All,
I have beta tested "Vista" 18 months before it was released. It "Sucks". Micr$oft...missed the released date, had to pull people from their "X-box" division to get "Vista" released.
Read this: A sincere plea to the Vista flagger (& good links to help users)
and this: Share Your Experiences - I HATE VISTA
Good luck !!

Rep Power: 7 | Hey Doc, maybe you should start your own "I Hate Vista" thread here on PC101!
'Course... we wanna be fair... maybe a "I Love Vista" thread too!
I wonder which will be shorter. lol
