External hard drives

Do you think external hard drives are worth buying?
Im just thinking that you can get double the capacity at the same price for an internal hard drive.
I admit a portable drive would be nice, but am I wrong in thinking they are overpriced?

Thats a great idea. That way it has multiple purposes.
Im just asking as I see them advertised alot, but cant really imagine carrying a real hard drive around with me.

Hey,
Yes using your iPod as a HDD has its benifits, however, what will you do if you go on a windows machine without iTunes installed?
If you are looking for external harddisk, I recommend SeaGate, or IoMega. I have multiple external drives, but they aren't for portability. I needed them because I ran out of expandable space. I have a 250 IoMega which works great and its is very durable. However, when I take to places with me, it's like carrying a book!

ipod

you dont need itunes to use an ipod as an external hard drive. only to coppy music to it. all you have to do is set up your ipod to be a mass storage device, and any computer that you plug it in to will see it as a mass storage device,it that computer has itunes, then you can download music as well, but itunes is not need to use it as a big storage device

I don't have an Ipod yet, but am getting one really soon. You can keep anything you want to on it. iTunes is not needed. You could also get a pocket hdd, with are pretty small. It all depends on how much storage you need. Look on ebay for different choices, there are good prices on there. I got a 250gb Maxtor 1 touch for $100 bucks(bout a year ago) and it works great. Let us know on what you decide

Using your Ipod can be a good idea, but you have to consider the cost.

Some retailers offer 250 gb external drives for $50 at different times of the year.

Unless you already have an Ipod that would be a bad desicion.
