Formatting taking days?

Hi, I recently formatted my laptop harddrive, and its taking over 24 hours, and its still only at 58% percent. I don't think its frozen because I can still hear the computer working but am wondering if something else is wrong? If this is normal, or has been heard of before, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. thanks.

That's not normal, but now you're stuck waiting for it to finish to see what to do next.

What format program and options did you use?

Slow formats often mean hardware problems with the drive.
