Pricewatch shows what look like much better deals on Athlon 64 X2 4200 Motherboard Combos. They start at $267.

They do not include the 1GB of RAM, but a 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2-533 is only $75.

I love the price comparison sites like PriceWatch, they really help to keep the resellers in line. The other good ones are PriceScan and Froogle.

yeah i just found a mobo it solves all my problems and was wondering what your opinion is basicaly my problem is ive got 600$ im runing p4 2.6 ghz with agp slot x4 (ati x700 agp) and ddr ram(1024+256mb)and i want to upgrade to pci-e slot and ddr2 ram and maybe my cpu, 3.2 ghz 3.4 ghz atleast and i couldnt really afford to go out and buy a new gpu just yet or ddr2 ram aleast 1gig and this mobo i just come across is a (asrock 775dual-vsta) which from my knowlege i think takes both agp and pci-e gpu s and ddr or ddr2 ram or thats what it says anyway so that way ican save up for a new gpu (pci-e x1600-x1950)and in the mean time still be able to use my x700 agp:p and same with my ddr ram
the mobo is only 57$ at monarch computer systems im not sure if thats aus $ or us $ but who cares im in tassie by the way

only thing is im not sure what kind of cpu im looking for everthing else ive got

What application(s) are you running that are justifying the upgrade?

That should tell you which components to invest your money in.

If you don't need to upgrade, it might be best to wait until you can buy everything together.

Wait. Save your money. Put it into a 6 month CD (Certificate of Deposit) where you can't touch it.

Then, you can buy something much better for less.
