Laser vs Optical

I have a Laser Mouse (Logitech G5), and I like it alot. I use to have the MX518 (top of the line optical gaming mouse) and I loved that to, but I wanted to get the greatest edge, and "Laser" is currently the best equipment out.


However what are the differences between laser and optical and is laser really MUCH more above then optical or is it all marketing?

I don't currently own a laser mouse, but I have heard they are more accurate I think.
