I'm planning on increasing my RAM to 1G but have a question first. I heard a system will only run as fast as it's slowest stick. Is this correct? Robert

yes, becaues both sticks have to be the same. you can not mix and match sticks.
if you have a 256, you have to have two 256's you can not have a 512 and a 256
also if one stick is pc2100, the other can not be pc3200.

here you go. you can mix and match sticks of memory. they do not have to be the same size, or speed. but buy using memory of differant sizes and speed, you take the chance on the memory not being compatable with each other. this dosent happen very often, but there is a slight chance.
LOL, okay, you go ahead and do that on you home system, and have buying more when you eventually fry them or your board
