Monitor Problem
I have Viewsonic E-40 14" monitor. From last few days its acting up weird. Its screen turn a little darker while running, it becomes like when u turn off the brightness level. But when I smack it on the back side, it comes back to normal. What do you guys think about this?

Check the back of your PC...see if the cable is conected properly. If you know anything about computers....check your video-card. If this still persist....time to get a new Monitor !!!

How old is the monitor and video card??

Yeah, it definately sounds like something's going out! Is this a more often than not problem or just now and then??

EDIT: I have a feeling it's your monitor that's going caputs! I did a Google ("Viewsonic E-40 problems") and there appears to be an issue with that model.

LOL, I think it has completed its life. I'm thinking to buy a new one but it will be something very new and expensive, I'm accumulating money for that purchase right now

I would recommend one of the very cool flatscreen/LCD monitors! Not only do they give you a better picture, they are SO light!! That alone is a huge plus for me!

You may have already tried these two things, but just suggestions:

If you have speakers, try moving them away from the monitor. Magnet + Magnet = Trouble

And, try degaussing your monitor, sometimes that helps. Check the cable, also.

I agree with Lyte.. get yerself a new monitor. I'm in the market for a LCD myself.. those things are cool!
