Smart Boards

I don't know if you know what I mean when I say Smart Board (sometimes called interative whiteboard) but it is a screen where the computer is projected onto and then you can operate it like a giant touch screen monitor. My question is, what can you actually use these things for. I can't think of anything that they could be used for that a standard projected image can't do.

I've seen a couple of these things around. They're really neat! They are a combo of overhead projector and dry erase board. They make presentations a lot faster and more interactive.

I hadn't thought of them being used in schools but I guess so...

I'm currently at university, however the college that I went to used them. The main way the teachers used them was as a standard whiteboard and then if anyone was off they could e-mail the notes to the absent pupils. Very handy!

We have a few at my HS. Last year in AP Civics, our teacher had one. We ran powerpoints on it, drew diagrams on charts that didn't have the right info on it, watched movies on it and everything. It is definitely worth looking into.

I know what you mean, my old college had something like 150 class rooms and every single classroom had one of these projectors in it. Even though it has a couple of good features they are not worth the money.
