Rep Power: 7 | Hey YaYa,
What kind of sound is it making?
I'd first check your power supply, ensure that's still working. You might try it on the other system. Are the fans still working?

Rep Power: 1 | Loose wires aren't the only things that could cause noise, depending on the type of noise, and when the noise occurs it could be:
1) Fan bearings going.
2) Something caught in fans.
3) Electrostatic.
4) BIOS errors.
Etc. You need to be more specific about the kind of noise it is and when it happens. |

Rep Power: 2 | I agree. You need to be more specific.
It could be many things, as mentioned.
If you are confident in doing your own repairs, I would check the fans first. Remove the processor fan from the heatsink to properly clean. You may have blown dirt into the heatsink or fan.
I would pull all the cables, power supply, IDE (ATA), and check all the connections carefully before reconnecting them. Perhaps a rom drive is making noise. What exactly does it sound like?
Please give us more details.

one short beep during start up is normal for most computers.

Rep Power: 0 | That sounds like a hardware problem. Remove the video card, turn it on, see if it beeps. If it does then take out the ram, turn it on, see if it beeps. You can do this also with the sound card, cd-rom, just not the motherboard.
