Time Zone Mod

Hello everyone
This is my first work done on registry tweaking. Hope you Enjoy

The following registry trick causes the time zone names and GMT offset of your computer time to change:

Click Start--->Run
type "regedit" to open the registry editor
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu rrentVersion\Time Zones
Click on your time zone (like mine is Arab Standard Time)
There you can change your values to anything for Display,Dlt and Std
After making appropriate changes, click on your computer time located in the taskbar and then click on Time Zone. Your changed values should appear there.
Enjoy!!!

Changing the registry information can cause a lot of problems. I don't understand your post. You can change the time just by double clicking the hour in the lower right corner of the screen. I think I've also seen a place in through the control panel to change date and time too. I can't find it right now but I know I've seen it. Robert

Hey dalvi,

I have to agree with R.Parham.....changing the registry information is dangerous if you don't know what you doing. I assume this ( registry tweaking) is in any Windows O.S. ?

Well...

PC101 asks its members to take responsibility for what advise they use from this site. It's impossible to check and double check everything everyone posts. So... you have to really consider what information/advise is being offered before you apply it to your system.

ah the good old registry

ok my recomendations about the regisrty.

STAY OUT!!!

the regisrty is where you screw up windows. yes i know. i do it about once a month. any time you go in to the regisrty you are taking a big chance on making windows work, well like, windows. well actually the whole not working thing. if you are obsessed with the registry, then you already should know to make back up copies, or explorer.exe and how to access them when you screw up windows. (yes i said when , NOT if )

second, if you dont know what regedit is, or how to access it off the top of your head, then it is not a place you need to be.

the last reason to stear clear of modifying the registry is, when windows releases a new service pack, or what ever else they have in mind, it sometimes changes setting inside of the registry and if you have modiyfed it, then it may not be compatable with the updates, leaving you with a non-functioning copy of windows. and if you dont have the origional copy backed up, well here is the part where you reload windows .

of cource this leads to my favorite solution of ...... get ready for it............ reformat.

i love windows
