video card

What is a good video card these days? I am not looking for the latest and greatest, but one with a good value. I currently have a GeForce 4 and would like to upgrade.

Definitely nVidia. NVidia provides the best graphics, usually good prices. And is accepted by most games.

Yeah, I will probably get an Nvidia card, rather than an ATI Radeon series card. I hear that Nvidia has fewer problems and is more compatible overall.

The ATI Radeon series is also good, if you do not want to go with Nvidia.

The ATI X800 XL isn't too pricey I think and it is a decent upgrade.

You can probably get an nvidia Geforce 5XXX or 6XXX series for cheap.

IMO the best solution would be a video card like NVidia GeForce 6600 GT or 7600 GS. This 2 series provide good performance in the most of modern 3d games and other 3d apps and they aren’t very expensive. ATI have analogs like ATI x850GTO/GTO2 but these cards don’t support pixel shaders v.3.0

I concur with StudeNT1k. My most recent video card purchase was an nVidia GeForce 7600 GT.
