Video Card Rant

I got my new AGP video card and the bracket is too big for the current slot and tho it comes with a smaller bracket, there's no place on the smaller bracket for the d-sub socket, just the TV out and DVI. I also have no idea how to change the bracket in any case, nor the tools.

I imagine the d-sub cable could be extended (about 8" or so, means a new cable unless the one in the comp will reach) to the current d-sub location, but looks like I'll have to resort to Radio Shack and hopefully they won't charge me an arm and a leg to install this. GRRR!

Life sucks today (have to work tonight).

Hey D,

Have you shopped around for a smaller bracket that has a place for the d-sub socket?? That's gotta be cheaper than having Radio Shack make it work.

Tried looking but haven't found just a bracket yet.. would help if I knew the proper term for it as well. Been trying "d-sub connector bracket", etc. It also has to be a short one.. I may try calling NewEgg or even Chaintech as they may have a lead on one right off. Right now, I'm on my way to work, ugh!

Maybe you should email/call the mfg of the card. They'll know what they sent ya and if you can get hold of something different.
