Will a Socket 423 Pentium4 work in a Socket 478 motherboard?

I have a socket 478 MSI board currently with an old 1.8 celeron chip and I just got a Pentium4 1.5 socket 423. will this work on that motherboard?

A 423 CPU will not work in a 478 socket.

I have seen converters to enable people to use a 478 CPU in a 423 socket , but I have not seen the reverse.

And heck, those were $40. That seems difficult to cost justify.
