Cool images are a great way of customizing your desktop unless you experience these annoyances... unhappy with the wallpapers in your Windows XP and maybe, even, simply having a hard time in changing the list of wallpaper graphics to a folder in your computer such as your My Pictures folder.
There’s a reasonably easy registry hack you can do to make Windows look in another folder, but if you want to do away with Blue Lace 16 you’ll also have to manually delete it. Please note that standard warnings on registry editing apply here. Always take a back up or create a restore point before making changes to your computer's registry!
In order to change the wallpaper folder, you need to open regedit.exe from the start menu Run box. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion
On the right pane look for an icon labeled WallPaperDir. This value defines the folder Windows uses to occupy the list. However, if the key is missing, create a new string value with the same name.
Double-click to change the value, and then paste in the full path to your My Pictures folder. You could specify any path here if you like to.
You should be able to see the changes right away the next time you open the Desktop panel. However, note that a number of default image files will still be in the list. To remove those, browse to C:\Windows and then look for a set of unwanted Bitmap files:
You can totally get rid of these image files appearing in the wallpaper selection list by deleting them, just be cautious not to delete any other files in your Windows folder or you likely won’t be able to boot again.
