Exclamation Ethernet Card Problems 98SE

Hey All,

I'm running 98se and just recently when I start my PC up....this box come up (before any "icons" on my desktop show up) and the message says something like" Windows has found a new device (Ethernet Card). I've checked my "device manger" to see if there is any trouble....NONE to be found. All there is there is a yellow sign next to my PCI Bus card...in fact , I have 2 of them. I just remove 1 of them. But this happens every time I start my PC. Any one have any ideals on what to do about this ??

I've updated the drivers..still no luck. If my "Ethernet Card" wasn't working, then I won't be posting this message. I have cable internet using cable modem via USB cable into my Ethernet Card. Any other ideals ??

Exclamation

Hey firestorm,

Let me explain this in a little more detail.

If I go to my "Device Manger"........I can see two (2) "PCI bus". If I remove 1 of them, this is when "Windows" whats too load drivers for this device (PCI bus). Why this is happening, I have NO ideal ?

First thing, if you double click the PCI bus that has the little yellow warning icon and the device status window will open, in the stats test box, what does it say there, please post that.

Second, on that same device stats window, at the top, click the Resources tab, and see if there is anything in the Conflicting device list text box, if so, please post that aswell.

Third, click on the Driver tab (again for the main decive stats window) and then past all the driver info from that screen too.

Fourth, is this decive listed under System Decive, Network Adapters, USB Controllers, or Computer?

Also, do you have more than one device using a USB port?
Have you had any recent updates installed, windows, anti-virus/firewall, or BIOS?
Actually what is your BIOS version?
And finaly, are you having "shutdown" issues of any kind that you know about, as this is a comman issue with 98se, which would also cause the PCI BUS issue.

Oh, do you have to cards, one on-board and a PCI card?
