Did you know you could fax via Windows XP?! Yes, you can!
Here's what you'll need...
1.
A fax modem.
2.
A telphone line.
There are four programs involved in the process. They are...
1.
Fax Configuation Wizard
2.
Send Fax Wizard
3.
Fax Cover Page Page Editor
4.
Fax Console
These four programs are not installed automatically when you install Win XP onto your computer. I guess it's to save time and space so you'll need to grab your XP install disk and toss it into your in your CD-ROM drive. Go to
Faxes and click
Set Up Faxing.
Okay, now that you've got that installed...
1. Go to
Start
2. Go to
All Programs
3. Go to
Accessories
4. Go to
Fax
5. Go to
Fax Console
6. Click
Next
In the
Fax Configuration Window, the least you are required to provide is your
full name and
fax number. Click
Next.
The
TSID (Transmitting Subscriber Identification) is manditory in some areas and this can be your just your fax number and business name.
The
CSID (Called Subscriber Identification) can be the same info... your fax number and business name.
Now, you have to tell the program where you want the incoming faxes to be routed. Do you want it to go straight to printer or do you want it saved to a file?? It might be a good idea to select both so that you'll have a back up copy (file) just in the dog eats your hard copy. :p
All incoming faxes are stored in the
Fax Console Inbox.
Click
Next
Click
Finish and there you go! You've just set up Windows XP fax!
Stay tuned and we'll cover how to
Send and Receive faxes!
