Hard Disk Booting Problem

I have 2 hard drives on a server. Somehow, the boot files ended up on the slave ( which is just basically a data storage disk ), and the operating system files are on the master hard drive. Recently, I wanted to replace the slave with a bigger one, but the server wouldn't boot unless I used the same slave. This effectively means that I cannot replace either of the disks. What do I do?

Have you tried the fixmbr and fixboot commands in the recovery console, to make the master hard drive bootable?

Alternatively, why not just add the third drive on a second drive controller?

Lemme take image backups of both hard drives before I fiddle around with em. You start off trying to solve one problem, and end up with a lot of new headaches.

But adding a third hard drive shouldn't be a problem, so I might just do that - As a temporary fix, while I sort out the master and slave.
