Changing and deleting a desktop theme in Windows XP is quite simple. The whole process is discussed below:
Changing to a different desktop theme
To select a different desktop theme, follow these steps:
- Click START, then click on CONTROL PANEL.
- Click APPEARANCE AND THEMES and then click DISPLAY.
- Alternatively, you can simply click PROPERTIES after right-clicking an empty area of the desktop.
- Click THEMES, and pick a new theme from the THEMES list. You will see a preview of the theme then.
- Select a theme of your choice before clicking OK.
You will see that your chosen desktop theme has been applied to your pc.
Delete a desktop theme
Any theme that you create, install or download can be deleted. However, the ones that comes with Windows XP can not be erased (e.g. The Windows XP default themes). Follow these steps to delete a desktop theme:
- Click START and then go to CONTROL PANEL
- Click APPEARANCE AND THEMES and click DISPLAY
- Click THEMES and select the theme which you would like to delete.
- Click DELETE
